Community sport builds community vitality. Whether the focus is on youth engagement, economic revitalization or newcomer settlement, community sport is a powerful tool for social change and can have a transformative impact on the quality of life we all enjoy.
Sport & Philanthropy
Sport plays a major role in strengthening communities by bringing people together, building social capital and fostering greater inclusion of excluded groups. More than 85% of Canadians believe participation in builds stronger communities and half of all Canadians are involved in community-level sport as participants, spectators, volunteers, coaches or officials.
In partnership with the True Sport Foundation, our focus on Sport and Philanthropy is helping community foundations connect with local sport organizations that are using the Principles of True Sport to build and strengthen their community. The True Sport Foundation is a national charitable organization dedicated to advancing and supporting values-based and principle-driven sport in communities throughout Canada.
